Australian barn owls (Tyto alba) are the pale "ghost owls" of farmland and open country — silent wings, a heart-shaped face, and hearing sharp enough to find a mouse in the dark. At Raptor Vision in Beerwah, one of them has become a wedding legend.

Luna, our trained barn owl, has flown the aisle at more than 500 weddings across the Sunshine Coast and Queensland, delivering the rings with a quiet drama guests never forget.

What makes a barn owl special

Barn owls aren’t like the darker-eyed boobooks and barking owls. They’re built for soft, almost soundless flight, a pale underside speckled with brown, and that unmistakable white facial disc. In the wild they hunt rodents at night; with us, Luna works as an ambassador for her species — at experiences, education days, and of course weddings.

Weddings, experiences, and meeting Luna

If you’re planning a wedding, a barn owl ring-bearer turns a short moment into the story everyone tells afterward. If you just want to meet one up close, our bird-of-prey experiences on the Sunshine Coast include hands-on time with owls like Luna.
